Industrial facilities which use above ground or underground storage tanks containing petroleum fuels, such as gasoline, diesel, and fuel oil, are subject to regulation by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). The Fuel Safety Program of TSSA regulates the use of petroleum fuels by suppliers, storage facilities, transport trucks, pipelines, contractors, as well as all associated equipment and appliances.
Industrial facilities which remove or upgrade an underground storage tank must have the soils in the area surrounding the tank tested for potential contamination. A report confirming a lack of soil contamination must be submitted to TSSA. Lakeside Green Environmental has extensive experience developing verification sampling programs and preparing written documentation which satisfies TSSA guidelines.
In the event of a fuel oil spill or discovery of contamination during verification sampling, Lakeside Green Environmental works with the client to develop a detailed remediation plan specific to the property. Remediation activities depend on several factors such as type and area of contamination, if ground water is impacted, and the time frame for the project. Lakeside Green Environmental works with TSSA approved contractors to restore properties to standards set by the Ministry of Environment.
