As of November 1st 2007, property owners are required to maintain an on-site record of all materials located within a building confirmed or suspected to contain asbestos. In addition, all building materials such as insulation, fireproofing, and ceiling tiles need to be considered as asbestos containing unless it can be proved otherwise.

An Asbestos Audit involves conducting a visual inspection of all areas of the building interior to determine potential sources of asbestos. Samples of suspect materials are collected following protocol established in Ontario Regulation 278 and submitted for laboratory analysis. A full report is generated whcih satisfies the requirements of Ontario Regulation 278.
